I love it when my house is clean and organized. It is such a good feeling, especially when you get to come home to a clean house.

However, as much as I love a clean and organized home I don't want to spend all my time cleaning it.

Between cooking dinners, laundry, dishes, and more there is plenty to keep us busy around the house. Luckily over the years, I have learned a few household hacks to keep your home running smoothly without spending all of your time organizing and cleaning.

If you are tired of a dirty, unorganized home or you just want to spend less time cleaning your home check out these household hacks to organize and clean your home.

Time-Saving Household Hacks

Declutter- If you are looking to spend less time cleaning around the house I always recommend starting by decluttering. When you have less stuff it just makes it easier to clean your home. Take the free 7-day decluttering challenge to rid your home of clutter.

Use An All-Purpose Spray- My favorite cleaner for the kitchen, bath, and just about everywhere is using a vinegar cleaner. If you don't like the smell of vinegar you can whip up a batch of lemon vinegar cleaner. It smells great!

Easily Clean The Oven- The oven doesn't have to be a pain to clean. You can easily soak your oven racks overnight with this tip. I also recommend using this no scrub way to clean your oven. Spend less time cleaning with this simple household hack.

Make The Time To Organize- We often take the time to clean our homes, but organizing often gets pushed aside. Make a little time each week to organize a drawer or closet.

Use Truman's For Cleaners- When I get too busy to make my own cleaners I just order Truman's refill. They are affordable and I love that they are non-toxic and have free shipping.

Food Prep Ahead Of Time- If you find your evenings are hectic you can do some food prep ahead of time. I like to spend about an hour or two on meal prepping once a week. It helps our evenings go so much smoother.

Dry Clothes Faster- Your dryer can get clogged with lint over time and it takes longer to dry your clothes. Save some time with laundry by cleaning your dryer vent every 6 months.

Meal Planning- Taking a few minutes every week to plan your meals can be a huge time and money saver.

Have A Laundry Schedule- If you feel like you are always doing laundry and never caught up your not alone. So many people tell me it is one of their biggest challenges. You can see tips on creating a laundry schedule that works for you here.

Use Freezer Meals- Freezer meals are great for busy evenings. You can make ahead freezer meals and save time cleaning up each evening. Making things in large batches will save you so much time. It is one of my favorite household hacks.

Organize Your Tupperware- Don't spend time looking for lost lids. Organize your Tupperware so it's easy to find what you need. You can see my favorite tips to organize Tupperware here.

Make a Family Plan- If you are overwhelmed with the housework make sure that everyone is pitching in. You can use an app like Cozi to assign everyone chores to do each day or week. It is completely free to get, you can go here to sign up and it is so easy to use.

Everything Should Have a Home- If you are constantly finding things lying around your house then find those things a home. We tend to just put keys and mail on the counter because we don't have a home for those items. When you create a home for each item in your house it makes it easier to keep your home clutter-free.

Use Amazon- If you have things that you buy over and over again consider using Amazon Subscribe and Save. You can use it for things like furnace filters, batteries, water filter, etc. We have our furnace filters & water filter set to deliver every 3 months. When one shows up I know it is time to change the filter.

Create A Cleaning Schedule- Knowing what to clean and when is half the battle. Create a cleaning schedule that works for your family. If you don't currently have a cleaning schedule you can see how I created one here.

Make Your Bed- Taking a few minutes to make your bed every day helps your room look clean without a lot of work.

Wipe Down Your Bath Every Day- I am a big FlyLady fan and I love giving my bathroom a little swish and swipe every day. If you spend about 5 minutes cleaning up your bath each day it never gets very dirty.

Use Aluminum Foil- Save on cleaning time by using aluminum foil for liners on pans and cookie sheets. If you use a crockpot regularly consider buying crockpot liners for easy cleanup.

Dust With A Paint Brush- Dust your lamps and other small items with a clean paintbrush. It only takes a few seconds to dust them and it does a great job of getting in the nooks and crannies.

Use Lemon Essential Oil For Smells- Kitchen still smell like dinner last night? Use lemon essential oil to get rid of the smell. Add a few drops of lemon oil to a bowl of water and cook in the microwave for about 2 minutes. Once the bowl cools you can set it out in the kitchen and the room will smell like lemons.
