Easy Ways To Save Money Every Month
January Ways To Save
One of the easiest ways to save money in January is to start with a budget. Sit down with your family and make a budget. It really helps start your year off right. Now is the perfect time to start saving for that summer vacation, or even Christmas next year.
One of my favorite ways to save money for the holidays is by using Ibotta and Fetch all year long. Then in November, I cash out the money I have saved and use it on presents. You can see some of my favorite tips in ways to earn free amazon gift cards. By starting now you will be ready for next Christmas.
January tends to mean high heat bills so you can save some money by being creative about heating your home. Switch to a programmable thermostat, close off those unused rooms, and make sure you have your fans running in a clockwise direction. When the fans run in a clockwise direction it helps force the warm air down and warm the room.
Finally one of my favorite ways to save money in January is by stocking up on foods and deals. Because of the new year, there are lots of deals on diet food and bars. It’s also oatmeal month so there will be deals on oatmeal and breakfast bars. By the end of the month, we will move on to the snack food and pizza for the Superbowl. If you find deals on the foods your family eats then stock up by purchasing 2-3 months worth of the food. It is one of the easiest ways to save money.
February Ways To Save Money
February is a short month, yet there are still plenty of ways to save money this month. One of the ways I try to save a little this month is by calling and lowering some of my bills. Although some bills are fixed, it is fairly easy to call and lower bills like cable, phone, and insurance. You can see some of my favorite tips for easy ways to save on household bills.
February is a crazy busy month for my family so I always like to start out the month by making a bunch of freezer meals. Then, when things get busy I skip the drive-thru and make a freezer meal instead. I often use the recipes from MyFreezEasy. It is a meal planning service that helps you plan and make freezer meals your family will love. The MyFreezEasy freezer cooking meal plans are printable downloads that contain recipes, shopping lists, assembly notes, assembly instructions, and printable labels for your meals. They offer a free online freezer meal workshop that is awesome! You can make 10 freezer meals in under an hour.
Don’t forget to stock up on the foods and deals your family uses every day. It is such an easy way to save money. Some of the best things to buy in February are canned goods and breakfast foods. March Ways To Save
March is such a great month to save money. Here in Indiana, the weather is finally starting to warm up. If you can try to save money by turning off your heater and leaving your air conditioner off too. It is nice to have a month or two without large power or gas bills. Plus, the windows open and fresh air feels great after winter.
If you really want to spend less money in March you could try a spending freeze. I have found that March is the perfect month to have one. It doesn’t have any major holidays and it is right before our spring break. I love to save a little money to use on a spring break trip.
If you like to buy things online I recommend checking out Ebates. It is an easy way to save money when you are buying online. All the extra money you earn this year can go towards Christmas. If you haven’t used Ebates yet you can see how they work here.
Some of the best ways to save money in March is by stocking up on deals at the grocery store. Because of Lent, there are always lots of fish and seafood deals at the store. April Ways To Save Money
April for me is clean and declutter month. I know that my son will be home for summer by the end of May and I just like to get the house prepared. I like to go through and declutter the house from top to bottom. Since April is our neighborhood garage sale it works out really well. I make more room in the house and I also make a little bit of money selling things we don’t need anymore.
There will be lots of sales on cleaning supplies in April. Stock up on the cleaners you normally use. Earth day is also in April so you can get some good deals on lightbulbs, water bottles, and reusable bags.
Since Easter usually falls in April there are lots of great food deals in April. If you are looking for easy ways to save you can stock up on baking supplies, eggs, and ham. I like to buy a couple of extra hams after Easter and freeze them.
May Ways To Save
Here in Indiana, we get out of school in May so to me May feels like the start of summer. It is also when things start to heat up. You can save money on cooling your home by running your fans counterclockwise. It helps force the air down making it seem cooler than what it is.
Another way I help keep the house cool is by cooking with the instant pot or slow cooker instead of the oven. Normally when you think instant pot you think warm winter meals but you can use your instant pot in any season. If you don’t know where to start, check out this free Instant Pot school where you will get access to 4 meal plans, video lessons, and some assignments that will help you meal plan with the Instant Pot. It’s a great way to get started using your instant pot for easy meals.
One of my favorite ways to save money in May is by stocking up on foods. May has plenty of seasonal produce like strawberries, blueberries, and peaches. You can stock up and freeze them.
May is also the beginning of grilling season. We will see so many deals on hotdogs, brats, and other grilling items. Stock up on what your family uses. I like to buy lots of ground beef and pre-make hamburger patties for an easy summer dinner.
June Ways To Save Money
June can be a fun month to save some money. With all the kids home from school there are deals just about everywhere. There are often great deals on movies, bowling, and discounts to parks.
One of my favorite ways to save is to use the library. I skip buying books and instead just get them from the library. Usually during June and July libraries will have their summer reading programs. Most libraries have the programs for adults too. You can get all kinds of freebies just for reading.
If you hate taking your kids grocery shopping then you can try online shopping. Most stores have online shopping with curbside pickup for around $5. I have found that we easily save $5 just skipping the impulse buys at the store. By online shopping, we only buy what we really need.
Or if you really want to save some time you can try using Instantcart. They do your shopping and deliver your groceries. The best part is you can still save money by using stores like Aldi.
June is a great month to stock up on dairy. It’s national dairy month so there will be good deals on ice cream, milk, and butter. There will also be deals on ketchup, mustard, and bbq items. Stock up while there is a good deal to save some money.

The school supply deals start at the beginning of July. Even if you don’t have kids it is a great way to get some good deals. Stock up on any office supplies you need. Now is also a great time to buy a laptop if you need one.
Amazon usually has some great Christmas in July deals so if you like to shop online make sure you watch for them. You can see my favorite tips to save money when shopping on Amazon.
Some great ways to save money on groceries this month is to stock up on hot dogs and hamburgers. They will be at their lowest right around the 4th of July. There will probably be some good beer and wine deals around the 4th too.
August Ways To Save Money
August is back to school for a lot of families. I always try to get back into a good routine after being more relaxed all summer long. We usually spend more in the summer too so I like to spend some time on meal planning and meal prep. If I know what we are having for dinner I’m not tempted to go through the drive-thru.
August is also a great time to find some deals on summer clothes. If you have small kids you may want to buy up the next size for the following summer. It is one of my favorite ways to save money. This is also a good time to go through your kids’ clothes to see what fits them and what you can get rid of. I try to take any clothes that my son has outgrown to a resale shop to get some extra money.
Now that the kids are back in school consider cutting the cable to save some extra money. We love using Hulu to watch TV instead of cable. It saves us a lot of money but we still get to watch all our favorite shows. You can see my favorite tips for watching your favorite shows without cable.
There are some great ways to save money on groceries in August. Chicken breasts almost always go on sale in August. You can really stock up while they are on sale and save. I like to stock up and vacuum seal the chicken breasts so they last longer in the freezer. Ziploc bags and lunch packing supplies are usually a good deal now too.
September Ways To Save
September is usually a pretty quiet month. Kids are back in school but we aren’t really thinking about the holidays yet. It is a great time to start planning for the rest of the year. Spend some time going over your budget and make sure you have a plan for Christmas and Thanksgiving. Now is a great time to do another no-spend challenge if you want to save more money before the end of the year.
The weather is usually pretty cool this time of year so a great way to save is by keeping the windows open and skip the air conditioning or heat.
September will be the last of the beef sales for a while so stock up while prices are low. Apples are also a great deal this month. Stock up on lots of apples to make applesauce, apple butter, and apple pies. You can also store apples for a couple of months without putting them in the fridge. You can see all the details here.
October Ways To Save Money
October is the beginning of fall and cold weather. One of the best ways to save money is to get your house ready for fall. Make sure you check all of your weatherstripping and caulk on the outside of your home. All of those little cracks will let the cold in and the heat out. Check out some more of my regular fall maintenance tips.
One of the best ways to save money this month is on groceries. October is national seafood month so there will be plenty of deals on seafood. With Halloween, you can stock up on candy and pumpkins.

November Ways To Save
November is one of my favorite months to pick up deals! I try to save money all year long and then in November I buy so much when there are great sales.
Black Friday deals are probably one of the best ways to save money. I don’t usually go out to the stores, but I tend to buy deals online. When you are buying deals online make sure to use Ebates as an easy way to save a little money. If you are unfamiliar with Ebates you can read all about them here. It is a cash back program that can really help you save.
If you have been using Ibotta and Fetch (use code RP6FG, during sign up and you’ll get 2,000 Fetch Points) all year long then cash out and get some gift cards now to help pay for Christmas gifts and deals this time of year.
I know that the new year is usually the time to declutter your home, but I like to spend some time decluttering before and during Thanksgiving. I go through our home and get rid of what we don’t need, including Christmas decorations. I also have my son go through his closet and toys to figure out what he wants to declutter and sell. November and early December is a great time to sell toys and Christmas decorations online. People are always looking for a good deal.
Finally, one of my favorite ways to save money in November is by stocking up on food at the grocery store. There are great deals on baking items throughout the month of November. You can also find discounts on Turkeys after Thanksgiving.
December Ways To Save Money
December is a lot like November. If you are anything like our family you are trying to avoid carry-out and eat at home to save a little money. It is often hard with all the activities that go on during Christmas. I like to plan on a crockpot meal or an instant pot dinner. Both are easy for me to fix so I am not tempted to go through the drive-thru. If you don’t know where to start, check out this free Instant Pot school where you will get access to 4 meal plans, video lessons, and some assignments that will help you meal plan with the Instant Pot. It’s a great way to get started using your instant pot for easy meals.
There are always a lot of coupons for stores and deals this time of year so be sure to look for a coupon before you buy anything. I also like to stock up on gift cards this time of year whenever I see a deal. A lot of restaurants will offer free gift cards if you buy so many gift cards.
