I love using my essential oils. My husband bought me a essential oil kit last year and I have had so much fun trying out new "recipes" and ways to use my essential oils. I am constantly amazed with how well they work for all sorts of problems. These are my favorite 20 great uses for essential oils.
Get Rid of Ants- Peppermint oil and water mixed together makes an easy way to get rid of ants and other insects. Just add 10 drops of peppermint oil to a cup of water and spray where you have seen the ants.
Sink Cleaner- This may be my favorite sink cleaner ever. It uses baking soda and salt with some rosemary essential oil. The whole kitchen smells great after cleaning the sink.
Headache Remedy- I mainly used essential oils for cleaning products until I had a bad headache one day. I had multiple people suggest peppermint oil. Just add some peppermint oil to a carrier oil and apply to the temples. It is amazing how quick the headache disappears.
Sunburn Relief- My husband got quite a burn while on vacation. I was so happy to have my essential oils with me. I made up a mix of lavender and peppermint oil. Add with some water to a spray bottle and mist over the affected area.
Gardener's Scrub- This gardener's scrub is so easy to make and smell's great. It uses lavender oil to make a fantastic smelling hand cleaner.
Dusting Spray- Lemon oil makes this dusting spray have a great aroma. You will never buy pledge again. It's easy to make and free of all the chemicals.
Car Vents Air Freshener- I love using different essential oils to make my car smell great. I made this simple air freshener and can switch out the scents by using different cotton balls.
Sleep Help- My son used to have problems falling to sleep each night. Then we bought him this diffuser and some vetiver oil. He now quickly falls asleep each night. You can also add a couple drops of vetiver oil and 1/2 cup water to a spray bottle and mist the room.
Carpet Deodorizer- Smelly house? Try adding 10-15 drops purification oil to some baking soda. Then sprinkle it on the carpet. Vacuum the carpet after about 1 hour. The whole house will smell so fresh.
Granite Spray-You can save so much money by making your own granite spray. The sweet orange essential oil not only makes it smell great, but also helps keeps the bugs away.
Goo-Be-Gone- If you get gum or sticky candy caught in something, try a couple of drops of lemon oil to get out the sticky stuff.
Glass Cleaner- I love this homemade glass cleaner and the lemon oil adds a nice clean scent to the cleaner.
Detox Bath- Tired and need a break? Try adding a couple of drops of Lavender, Thieves, and Frankincense oil to a warm bath.
Disinfecting Rooms- I always bring a small spray bottle with some thieves oil on vacation with me. I add 10-15 drops of thieves oil to some water and spray around the room. Not only does the room smell great, but it helps disinfect.
Relaxing Lotion- I love adding lavender oil to Epson salt lotion. It makes a perfect lotion to give a back rub with or use for restless legs.
Treat Dandruff- You can add some tea tree oil to your shampoo to help treat dandruff. If you have really bad dandruff, try adding some tea tree oil to coconut oil. Massage onto scalp and allow to sit for about 30 minutes. Then wash the hair. It will make the hair so soft and get rid of dandruff.
Bug Spray- Add a couple drops of cinnamon leaf to some water and use as a spray to keep away the mosquitoes. It smells great and the bugs will stay away.
Shower Bomb- If you are having problems with sinus issues you can make these shower bombs. Just drop one in the shower with you to breathe easier.
Healthy Hair- If you are having problems with hair breakage try massaging your scalp with some lemongrass oil. Your hair will be stronger with less damage.
Mildew Smell-If you have laundry that smells like mildew add a couple drops of lemon oil to the laundry when you add soap. Your clothes will come out smelling fresh.

You know, I haven't gotten into essential oils yet. Maybe it's the contrarian in me trying to resist the trendy. 🙂 But many of your cleaning recipes look intriguing. I may have to look into it!

I resisted for such a long time too. 🙂 So many of the essential oils are expensive, but I finally tried a couple brands that I liked that weren't outrageously priced.
