10 great uses for vinegar

Vinegar is one of my favorite products. I absolutely hate the smell, but it can clean really well. I usually buy the large jugs at Aldi and keep one or two around. It is amazing to me what you can use vinegar for. Here are 10 great uses for vinegar.

Lemon Vinegar Cleaner– I love to let vinegar and lemons soak for two to three weeks. Then you can mix the liquid with water to make a great cleaner. This is perfect if you can’t stand the smell of vinegar.

Getting rid of smells in a room– If you have a room with a bad odor in it you can use vinegar to get rid of the smell. Just set out a bowl of vinegar for a few hours and the smell will be gone. You can also use a drop or two of lemon juice in the bowl if you want.

Oven Cleaning Paste– I love this great oven cleaning paste. It does take a little bit of scrubbing, but is so much better than the chemical sprays.

Removing wax from clothing– If you ever end up with wax on your clothes vinegar, dish soap and hot water can get it out. I couldn’t believe it, plus it only takes 1/2 cup of vinegar. It worked great.

Cleaning Jewelry-Vinegar works wonders on cleaning rings and jewelry. I just let my rings soak in vinegar for about 10 minutes and then wash them off. They are so much cleaner!

Clarifying Hair– Some people swear by vinegar for their shampoo everyday. I like to use it once every couple of months as a clarifying treatment. My hair looks much shinier after using it.

Weed Killer– Vinegar works great as a all natural weed killer. Just pour some in a spray bottle and apply to weeds. Make sure you don’t get it on a plant or grass that you don’t want to kill. It will easily kill off grass. I like to use it for the driveway and sidewalk cracks.

Cleaning Windows– Just mix two parts water with one part vinegar to get a great window cleaner. Spray on the windows and wipe them off with a microfiber cloth. The windows be sparkly and clean. Want to get your windows clean from the outside? Try this simple way to clean the windows.

Cleaning the Faucets– I love using vinegar to get the residue off the faucets. You can use this on sinks or showers. It only takes about 30 minutes to get them clean.

Fabric Softener– Add 1/2 cup vinegar to the fabric softener dispenser in your washing machine. It will make your clothes so much softer and you won’t need to use the dryer sheets. If you are concerned about the smell in your clothes you can try this simple DIY fabric softener.

Vinegar isn’t just cleaning anymore. There are so many great ways to use vinegar around the house. What is your favorite use for Vinegar?

I use it to clean my coffee pot; I run it through a couple times (about half the pot vinegar and half water). Then because I use vinegar periodically in my load of towels to get a really good clean, I pour that used vinegar mixture into the washer and do a load of towels. I have been also told that vinegar in laundry helps colors to hold? Not sure if that is true, but if doing so I would suggest running through an extra rinse to get rid of that vinegar smell!

That is awesome! I love the idea of using the vinegar twice. I haven’t heard of the colors holding before. I can’t wait to check it out. Thanks!
