My kiddo is a huge fan of activewear. I think all he wears is Under Armour and t-shirts from his high school team. The only time you will ever find him in a dress shirt or polo is on game day when he has to dress up. For some reason, dry fit material shirts tend to hold on to the sweat and stink more than cotton clothes.
I am sure the fact that he has lifted weights in the clothes and left them in his locker for a week or two doesn’t help matters. Luckily I have learned how to get the sweat smell out of clothes. If not I would constantly be buying him new clothes. So if you have some gym clothes that you can’t seem to get the sweat smell out of check out these great tips. by filling up the washing machine with hot water. Add one cup of vinegar to the machine.
You will want to start by filling up the washing machine with the hottest water your machine does. Pour in one cup of vinegar in the machine.
Once the machine is done filling add all the smelly clothes to the wash.
Let the machine run for a minute or two until the items are completely wet. Then turn off the washing machine and let the clothes soak for about 30 minutes to an hour, depending on the smelliness of the clothes.
After the time add laundry detergent and start back up the machine and let it run through the cycles. I recommend using the extra rinse cycle when you are doing this. When the cycle is done remove the clothes and dry them as usual.
You may need to repeat the process if the clothes are really smelly. I have found that normal sweaty clothes just need one time through the laundry. Clothes that are sweaty and left at the bottom of the locker for weeks usually need two times. 🙂
It’s an easy and cheap fix for all those stinky gym clothes that you have.
