One of my favorite (and the easiest!) ways to save money is by stocking up on foods when the prices are at their lowest. I can buy foods for 50-60% of their regular prices. The best part about stocking up when things are on sale is that it doesn’t take a lot of my time. Just stock up to really save money on your grocery bill. September still has some great deals on in-season produce. I love to stock up on apples and make applesauce. Check out the top 5 things to buy in September and save.
Seasonal Produce
The fall fruits and veggies are in season. I love stocking up on apples and making applesauce, apple butter, and apple chips. Beyond apples, we will also see sales on acorn squash, butternut squash, cantaloupe, cauliflower, eggplants, green beans, mushrooms, peppers, and pumpkin.
Fall Drinks
Warm drinks will be on sale this month. Think coffee, tea, and ciders. If you have a k-cup machine this is a great time to stock up and save money. It's also national coupon month so we should see lots of coupons to go along with the sales.
Grilling Items
September starts out with Labor Day so we will see some great sales on hamburgers, hot dogs, buns, chips, and drinks. Stock up for some easy to make meals.
Lunch Deals
With the kids heading back to school we will see lots of deals on school lunch products. I love to stock up on peanut butter, jelly, and frozen lunches. These foods tend to have a long shelf life so buy for the next 6-9 months. I usually will buy 10-15 jars of peanut butter when I can get them on sale for my homemade uncrustables.
Summer Clearance
Patio furniture, grills, and pool equipment will all be on sale as we say goodbye to summer and head into cooler weather. You can save so much money by purchasing things for next summer on clearance now. It's probably the best time of year to grab a grill if you need one.
So grab a couple of great deals this month to really save some extra cash. Want to know the best things to buy every month? Check out my what to buy and when? a guide to sales cycles.
