get rid of gnats fast

Whether you are dealing with pesky gnats in your drains or around your plants gnats can be a huge pain!

Get rid of gnats fast with these simple tips. Plus most of these tips don't use chemicals so you can get rid of them without harming kids or pets.

Check out my favorite tips below to get rid of the insect infestation and keep them away for good!

How To Get Rid Of Gnats Fast

If you want to get rid of those gnats really fast one of the best ways is to create a gnat trap.

You can make one at home that is free from harsh chemicals.

items needed to get rid of gnats

Items Needed:

  • Vinegar
  • Dish Soap (I just use blue dawn)
  • Sugar

Making A Homemade Gnat Trap

To make the homemade gnat trap you will take a bowl that you don't mind the gnats getting in.

Step 1: Then add about 1/2 cup of vinegar to the bowl.

Step 2: Add 1/4 cup of dish soap to the bowl.

Step 3: Lastly, add about 1 tablespoon of sugar to the bowl.

Step 4: Mix everything well and place it near the gnats. The gnats will be attracted to the sugar but will drown in the vinegar/dish soap mixture.

Another way to get rid of gnats fast is to buy a gnat trap on Amazon. They make some great gnat traps that are free from chemicals and use blue lights to attract the gnats.

Because they don't use chemicals it is safe to use around your fruit bowls and in your kitchen.

Keep Them Away With Essential Oils

Another great way to get rid of gnats fast is to use essential oils. Gnats don't like the smell of peppermint so you can use that to deter them.

You can keep gnats, mosquitoes, and ants away by using the below peppermint oil tips.

  • One easy way is to put a few drops of peppermint essential oil on cotton balls and place it around the area where the gnats are. This will keep them away.
  • If you are having problems with gnats in your drains then you can add a couple of drops of peppermint oil after cleaning the drains.
  • One of my favorite ways to use peppermint essential oils to keep gnats away is to add it to a homemade granite spray. The smell of peppermint will linger on your kitchen countertops and deter the gnats.

Note: You can use this spray on most countertops not just granite.
