I am not normally a very squeamish person, however, I do get very grossed out by spiders. It doesn't matter if they are dead or alive I can't stand them.
I will admit when I see one I tend to yell and scream until someone comes and kills the spider for me. I don't even like seeing spider webs outside the house or in the garage.
We also have a basement that spiders love to hang out in. I used to use all the sprays and chemicals to get rid of spiders, but recently I have started using a natural spider repellent.
If you are tired of seeing spiders around your house check out how to get rid of spiders naturally.
How To Get Rid Of Spiders Naturally
If you want to get rid of spiders naturally and not use a whole bunch of chemicals I have a few suggestions and tips.
First of all, keep in mind the timing of when you see the spiders. Fall tends to be the time that we really start to see spiders. That's because fall is mating season for spiders.
There aren't any more spiders than normal this time of year, we just tend to see them more. By doing a few things around the house now you can help keep the spiders away naturally and find a more spider-friendly home than yours.
Get Rid Of Moisture In Your Home
Moisture is a spider's (and other bugs) friend. Most spiders like to live in areas with high moisture, which is why you often find them living in your basement. Most basements tend to be a little more damp than the rest of your home.
Get rid of any moisture that you can. Fix leaky pipes, stop any leaks in your home, and take the moisture out of the air.
If you have a basement that has a high moisture problem you can use moisture absorbers. They really do a great job of cutting down on moisture and getting rid of damp smells.
I place them in a couple of areas around our basement to help get rid of spiders.
Caulk and Seal Your Home
Caulking and sealing is another easy way to get rid of spiders. They can easily find their way into your home through small cracks.
By carefully sealing around windows and doors you will help keep the spiders out of your home.
Every spring and fall spend an hour or so walking the exterior of your home. Caulk any areas that need it. When you seal up your home you will keep the spiders away.
It is an easy way to naturally keep spiders gone. No chemicals are needed!
Use Diatomaceous Earth
For garages and basements, you can use diatomaceous earth to get rid of spiders. Diatomaceous earth doesn't repel spiders however it will kill them.
It also will kill ants and roaches if you have problems with them. Just sprinkle a little of the diatomaceous earth in areas where you want to kill the spiders.
Keep in mind that even though it is food safe you will still want to keep it away from pets and children.
Spray Peppermint Oil
Spiders hate peppermint oil so spraying it around the house is a great way to get rid of spiders.
You can mix up a spray bottle with peppermint oil and water and spray around windows and doors to keep the spiders away. For every cup of water add about 20 drops of peppermint oil.
Not only will peppermint naturally keep the spiders away but it will also make your house smell good.
Add Spider Repelling Plants
Another great way to get rid of spiders is by adding plants that repel spiders. Certain plants like lemongrass, mint, and eucalyptus naturally get rid of spiders.
You can naturally keep the spiders away just by planting these around your home. Instead of trying to get into your home, they will head on over to your neighbors. Plus, they all smell great too!
Keep the spiders away from your home naturally and kill the ones you already have with these easy tips on how to get rid of spiders. With a little work, you can easily have a spider-free home.

I have always heard that hedgeapples will repel spiders. They are plentiful in Indiana along the roadsides, but I've never heard just how to use them, whether to cut them up or just lay them around the perimeter of the house, or what. BTW, I also detest spiders and I'm guessing most people who are reading this article feel the same way, so WHY did you have to include a picture of one? That is enough to give me nightmares!

A couple of spiders used to live in my bathroom, but my cat took care of them. Thankfully they were not of a venomous kind. They are disgusting. Yuck!
