Ever wash your face repeatedly but still can't get the mascara off? I used to wash my face multiple times and still went to bed looking like Alice Cooper. I occasionally picked up a good deal on makeup remover and would use it until it ran out. I just never found a makeup remover that I loved, until now.

I was reading an article on uses for coconut oil and found out that you can use it as a homemade makeup remover. I whipped some up (no pun intended) and am in love. Not only does it remove all the mascara from my eyes, but I swear my eyelashes look healthier. Plus, I smell yummy after using it. It only takes a few minutes to make and only one ingredient.

Start with a cup of coconut oil. You can buy it at just about any grocery store. Even though it is an oil it is usually hard like Crisco. If you are having a hard time scooping out the coconut oil you can get your spoon warm and it will make it easier.

Add the cup of coconut oil to a mixing bowl and start mixing on low for about a minute. After a minute you may need to scrape down the sides and then continue mixing for 1-2 minutes until it is light and fluffy.

Remove from the mixer and store in a small jar. You can store in the bathroom to remove your makeup or if you have really dry skin it makes a great lotion.

To remove makeup just scoop out a pea sized amount and rub gently over eyes. Then clean off with a tissue or wash cloth. It works great and is much cheaper than makeup remover.

I love coconut oil, it can be used for so many things. I haven't tried whipping it before but I should!

It is amazing what you can use coconut oil for! 🙂

Yet another amazing use for coconut oil. I bet this is awesome for removing eye makeup since it would leave the eye area so moisturized (and hopefully fend off crow's feet!). Thank you so much for linking up your post at the This Is How We Roll Thursday party.

I used coconut oil to remove my eye makeup as well! However, I have never whipped it first....I will have to try that! I found this at Foodie Friends Friday party 🙂

It still works the same, I just think its easier to use whipped. Thanks for stopping by!

Does it stay whipped? I have coconut oil and could try this. What about the rest of makeup. Do you use it on your whole face? Thanks!!

It stays whipped as long as it doesn't get too warm. If it gets too warm it will melt back to the original form. You can use it on your whole face if you would like.

Thank you so much for sharing this! I like Mary Kay's eye makeup remover, but it costs about $14, and I go through it pretty quick. I have coconut oil, so I'll be trying this today!
