Inside: Trying to save more money? Check out the best things to buy in May to really save. It’s an easy way to save more money without much work.
One of my favorite (and one of the easiest!) ways to save money is by stocking up on foods when the prices are at their lowest.
I can buy foods for 50-60% of the regular prices. The best part about stocking up when things are on sale is that it doesn’t take a lot of my time.
Just stock up to really save money on your grocery bill. I am able to get my grocery bill to around $50 a week by stocking up and saving.
Best Things To Buy In May
If you are trying to avoid the stores right now I highly recommend Instacart. I have been using them for the last 6 weeks to get food delivered to my house.
Also, keep in mind stocking up doesn't need to mean buying out the store. If you find a good deal you can buy a few extras to put back for a time that your family can use them.
May is when it finally starts to feel like summer around here. It's also a great time to stock up on fresh fruits and vegetables.
We will see some great sales on grilling items and foods for picnics. If you want to save some money on your grocery bill check out the best things to buy in May to really save.
Seasonal Produce
May is a great time to stock up on seasonal produce. Usually, about mid-May, I start to see strawberries for only $.99 a pound.
Since I know my family loves strawberry freezer preserves I will stock up on strawberries and make some strawberry freezer jam.
In May there will also be some good deals on blueberries, peaches, and pineapples.
Stock up on the foods while you can get them at low prices. If you like to make smoothies you can stock up on the fruits and freeze them. My husband drinks a smoothie every morning so I love to find some good deals on fruit and freezer them.
Some of the best in-season produce this month are Asparagus, Blueberries, Carrots, Cauliflower, Lettuce, Onions, Peaches, Pineapples, Strawberries, and Spinach.

Foods
May starts off with Cinco De Mayo so we will see some awesome sales on tortillas, salsa, and hopefully margaritas.
I love having tortillas around all year for quesadillas. If you see a good sale stock up on them. You can always put a few unopened bags in the freezer so they don't go bad.
Whenever we have just a small amount of meat leftover I use it to make quesadillas for lunch. It stretches the meat that we use and everybody seems to love them.
May brings warm weather and (maybe!) family barbeques. We will see so many sales on ketchup, mustard, bbq sauce, hamburgers, and hot dogs.
I usually try to buy enough hot dogs for all summer long. They are great to throw on the grill for a last minute lunch. When I see them go on sale I will buy 4-5 packages.
Ketchup and mustard will be the lowest you will see all year. If your family uses these buy a couple of extra.
We usually see a few sales on snack foods like chips and pretzels too. It's a great time to stock up on chips for summertime.

If you buy online don't forget to use Rakuten to get some money back on your purchases. It's really easy to do.
May is the perfect time to buy a vacuum if you need one. We will see lots of Memorial Day sales on vacuums, tv’s, and mattresses.
May is also a wonderful time to get spring clearance items. Raincoats and jackets are now on clearance to make room for swimsuits.
