Inside: Trying to save more money? Check out the best things to buy in March to really save. It’s an easy way to save more money without much work.

best things to buy in march

One of my favorite (and one of the easiest!) ways to save money is by stocking up on foods when the prices are at their lowest.

I can buy foods for 50-60% of the regular prices. The best part about stocking up when things are on sale is that it doesn’t take a lot of my time. Just stock up to really save money on your grocery bill.

I am able to get my grocery bill to around $50 a week by stocking up and saving money when prices are at their lowest. (Note: I now spend closer to $100 a week for my family)

Best Things To Buy In March

March has St. Patrick's Day so we will see certain foods on sale this month.

Also, March is a great month to get some deals on clearance winter clothes. You can occasionally still find some great clearance deals on winter clothes.

Buy the kiddos one size up in coats and gloves now to really save!

Best Produce To Buy In March

The weather is all over the place here in Indiana and we don’t have a lot of seasonal produce right now in March. However you can find a few deals.

The best fruit to buy in March is:

  • apples
  • clementines
  • grapefruit
  • lemons
  • Limes

Oranges and apples will often last for weeks without going bad.

Also, if you see a great sale you can always freeze your fruits to help them last longer.

I like to freeze oranges and tangerines for smoothies. You can see some tips for freezing oranges here.

The most in-season vegetables are:

  • Artichokes
  • Avocados
  • Beets
  • Broccoli
  • Cauliflower
  • Leeks
  • Potatoes
  • Spinach

Recently I've noticed Avocados for around $.50 each so we have been making a lot of guacamole for snacks.

We will also see a few sales on cabbage because of Saint Patrick’s Day. If you like to pickle cabbage now is the time to really stock up.

Foods To Buy In March

March is National Frozen Foods Month. If your family regularly eats frozen foods it is a wonderful time to stock up on everything from frozen pizza to frozen fish.

We will see lots of great sales and coupons to go with the deals. Even if your family isn’t big into frozen foods consider picking up a couple of frozen pizzas.

I love to buy some frozen pizzas when they are on sale. I use them for busy nights when I don’t feel like cooking or when things get crazy.

With March 17th being Saint Patrick's Day there will also be some sales on corned beef. My husband loves corned beef so I always buy a couple of them when they are on sale and freeze them.

March 14th is National Chip Day (who knew right?) so there will be sales on chips and dip throughout the beginning of the month. It's one of the best things to buy in March.

Bonus Money Saving Tip!

Other Stuff To Buy In March

March is one of my favorite months because it is usually when spring cleaning gets started.

Everyone gets into spring cleaning mode this month. We will see sales and deals on all the household cleaners and supplies.

Stock up on enough to last you a couple of months. I can often find cleaners for free or very cheap around this time of year.

I will buy as much as I think I will use in one year. It’s a great way to save money on those household supplies.

Spring is on its way and we will see huge winter clearance sales. I love getting a size up snow pants and winter coats for my son on mega clearance.

I can often find all kinds of winter clothes on sale for 75% off or even more. It’s a fantastic time to stock up for next winter. Check out your favorite stores for some winter clearance deals.
