Inside: Make your own homemade soft scrub with this easy recipe. You can skip the chemicals and the bad smells with this simple shower scrub. It works great on sinks too! Don’t overpay when you can do it yourself.
The great thing about making your own cleaning products is that you quickly learn what does and doesn’t work together. I absolutely love my rosemary sink cleaner. So, when I needed a scrub for my bath and shower I knew that I could slightly alter it and get a scrub that would really work.
I often use my lemon vinegar cleaner or granite cleaner in the bathroom. But, our shower often gets hard water buildup and stains on the shower floor. For this, you need something with a little abrasion to really get it clean. I started with the baking soda and salt combo that I use on the sink cleaner and added a little water, dish soap, and lemon essential oil to make a fantastic smelling and cleaning homemade soft scrub.
Not only is this homemade soft scrub way cheaper than buying a store-bought scrub, it also is free from all the bleach and chemicals. You can easily whip this up at home in a few minutes and save yourself some money.
Start by mixing baking soda, salt, dish soap, and water together in a bowl. Put the mixture in a squeezable container. You can use an old soap bottle or I love these bottles here for cleaning products. Add about 15-20 drops of lemon essential oil. You can add a little more or less depending on how strong you want the scent. Shake the bottle well to mix everything.
To use, just squirt out on the shower or sink. Scrub for a minute or two with a microfiber cloth. Wash the homemade soft scrub away with water. It will leave all the surfaces shiny and clean. If you are concerned about it being too abrasive, you can leave out the salt.
