Inside: Tired of dealing with dirty vinyl flooring? Check out this simple tip on how to get ground in dirt out of vinyl flooring. It’s the easiest way to clean vinyl flooring.
For years I hated the vinyl flooring in our laundry room. The style didn’t bother me really, it was the fact that it was so hard to keep clean. Not only do we use our laundry room for laundry, but also it’s where we feed our dogs. Because of this, the flooring is hard to keep clean. The vinyl flooring in our laundry room isn’t smooth. It has a pitted texture that I guess is supposed to make it feel more like tile. Unfortunately, all it does is gather ground in dirt. It seemed like no amount of mopping or scrubbing would fix it. However recently I came up with a solution that quickly gets the ground in dirt out of vinyl flooring without a bunch of scrubbing.
If you would like an easy way to get your vinyl floors clean again check out this easy tip on how to get ground in dirt out of vinyl flooring. In just a few minutes time you will get your floors clean again.
You can see below in the before picture my vinyl flooring was filthy. Despite being mopped recently there was still plenty of dirt left behind on the textured vinyl. There was also some paint stains on the vinyl from the previous owners. We have lived here for over 10 years so I know the stains are at least 10 years old.
To get rid of the ground in dirt out of vinyl flooring you will need a rag or old washcloth plus a steam iron. Start by getting the rag or washcloth wet and ringing it out. Then fill up the steam iron with water and set it on the lowest setting.
Once the iron is heated up lay the wet washcloth over the area you want to clean. Then take the iron and run it over the washcloth for about 10 seconds. You will want to make sure you keep the iron moving over the different areas of the washcloth so you don’t overheat the vinyl.
After about 10 seconds remove the iron and the washcloth. Be careful because the washcloth will now be very hot. The washcloth should have soaked up most of the dirt and grime. If it didn’t, lay it back down and repeat the process again.
As you work over the areas of the floor that is dirty you will need to rewet the cloth to keep it damp.
I was amazed at the difference it made! It not only removed all the ground in dirt on the vinyl floor but it also took off much of the paint stains.
I am so thrilled to learn this awesome trick on how to get ground in dirt out of vinyl flooring. In about 10 minutes time I had my laundry room floor looking clean again. If you have a very large room this will obviously take you a lot more time. Since cleaning the floor a couple of months ago the vinyl flooring has stayed clean. I am hoping I won’t need to use this trick again for another year or two.
