homemade soft scrub

I absolutely love my rosemary sink cleaner. So, when I needed a scrub for my bath and shower I knew that I could slightly alter it and get a scrub that would really work.

Our shower often gets hard water buildup and stains on the shower floor, and I wanted to make something with a little abrasion to really get it clean.

You can easily make this homemade soft scrub recipe with only 4 ingredients. You probably have everything you need at home.

Not only is this homemade soft scrub way cheaper than buying a store-bought scrub, but it also is free from all the bleach and chemicals.

You can easily whip this up at home in a few minutes and save yourself some money.

If you are looking for a quick way to scrub your sink and bath check out this easy to make DIY Soft Scrub.

soft scrub to make at home

Homemade Soft Scrub

To make this homemade soft scrub you need a few ingredients:

  • baking soda
  • salt (just normal table salt)
  • dish soap
  • water
  • essential oils (you don't have to use them but it makes it smell great!)

Usually, I like to use lemon essential oil because of the nice scent it leaves behind.

Making the DIY Soft Scrub

In a large bowl mix up the baking soda, salt, and water.

Next, add in the dish soap. The dish soap will make the mixture foam a little so stir slowly.

Finally, add about 15-20 drops of lemon essential oil. You can add a little more or less depending on how strong you want the scent.

Storing The Soft Soap Cleaner

To store you can either store it in a jar or in a squeezable container. You can use an old soap bottle or I love these bottles here for cleaning products if you want a squeezable container.

If you prefer glass you can find these cute food safe containers to store the homemade soft scrub in.

Using the Homemade Soft Scrub

To use, just get some out of the container and put it on the shower or sink or apply it to a microfiber cloth.

Next, scrub for a minute or two with a microfiber cloth.

Wash the homemade soft scrub away with water. Make sure you get 100% of the DIY soft scrub removed especially in a shower or bathtub. The soap in the mix could cause the floor to become slick.

This homemade soft scrub will leave all surfaces shiny and clean.

If you are concerned about it being too abrasive, you can leave out the salt.

You can skip the chemicals and the bad smells with this simple shower scrub. It works great on sinks too! Don't overpay when you can do it yourself.

My cleaners usually last a couple of months. Plenty of time to use them up. I sometimes do have to add a little more water if they have gotten dried out.
