One of my favorite (and one of the easiest!) ways to save money is by stocking up on foods when the prices are at their lowest. I can buy foods for 50-60% of the regular prices. The best part about stocking up when things are on sale is that it doesn’t take a lot of my time. Just stock up to really save money on your grocery bill.  In June produce deals are in full swing.  Check out what to buy (and skip) in June.

    Seasonal Produce

There are so many in season produce deals right now. You can get Blueberries, Cantaloupe, Corn, Green Beans, Kiwi, Lettuce, Peaches, Strawberries, and Watermelons. I am so excited about strawberries coming back in season. I love to pick up a bunch to make homemade strawberry preserves that can be frozen instead of canned.  Plus, I can make a couple of my favorite strawberry pies.

    Ice Cream & Dairy

June is the national dairy month, so get ready for some amazing deals. There will be sales on ice cream, butter, milk, eggs, and cream. You can stock up on ice cream and ice cream treats to last the whole summer. You can freeze milk and eggs if you want to really stock up on them too.

    Grilling Stuff

The 4th of July is right around the corner. There will be great deals on hot dogs, hot dog buns, ketchup, mustard, chips, dips, and drinks. All the stuff you need for grilling. I love stocking up on hot dogs, brats, and buns. They all freeze well to have all year long.

    Gardening Items

I know summer hasn’t even started yet, but stores will be ready to push out the spring gardening tools and items to make way for pool toys, grills, and other summer items. If you need any gardening tools, now is a great time to buy them on clearance. You can also buy seeds on clearance and save them back for next year. Check out the best way to store seeds from year to year here.

    What to Skip

Skip buying the grill this month. Grills will be at their highest in June and not go on sale until late July and August. Tools also seem to be overpriced this time of year due to Father's Day. Hold off until after Father's Day to score a good deal.

Saving money doesn’t always have to take a lot of time. Just by stocking up on a few extras when they are at their lowest can save you $100’s. What are your favorite things to buy in June?

Thanks for the tip about national dairy month! I didn't know, I'll have to see if cheese and butter that I use are on sale. If so I'll be stocking up!

I had no idea about the dairy month for June. I will definitely need to take a look at ice cream as a treat on sale. I do enjoy a good ice cream sundae from time to time. Thanks for sharing!!!

Great article! It's always good to know what to buy and stock up on in season. I love to buy and freeze fruit. I used to make strawberry jam to freeze and your post reminded me of it. It makes great gifts too. Only one slight correction, ice cream doesn't last all summer 😉 Getting it to last a week is a feat!
