Inside: Help your hair dryer last longer and save money with this simple tip on how to clean a hair dryer. It's so easy and only takes a minute of your time!
How to clean a hair dryer

For years I had problems with my hair dryers. I would have them for about a year and then they would go bad. At first, I thought it was because I bought cheap hair dryers. I use my hair dryer once a day and only for drying my hair. But, even when I bought a more expensive hair dryer I didn't get that much more life from it.

I finally read an article that talked about cleaning your hair dryer and since I have started doing that my cheap $20 hair dryer has lasted over 3 years. The best part is it's so easy to clean a hair dryer. It just takes about a minute once a month. Want your hair dryer to last longer? Check out how to clean a hair dryer to help stretch the life of your hair dryer.

Hair dryers collect dust, lint, and hair in the back vents. The vents are where they are drawing in air to blow through the hair dryer. So whatever is in or around the vents when the hair dryer is on is sucked in or stuck on the grills. Over time you start to develop lint on the outside of the grills. This stops the flow of air into the hair dryer making the motor work harder and eventually burning up the motor.

You can take a few minutes to clean a hair dryer and get all the lint out making the motor last longer. I just use an old toothbrush to clean mine out. I often get the freebie toothbrushes from the dentist that I make my cleaning toothbrushes.

Grab your hair dryer and locate the vents on the hair dryer. I have had a few models that have a cover you need to take off first, but the one I have now just has the vents at the end. Take your toothbrush gently over the vent areas and the lint will peel right off. After a few swipes, the hairdryer will be clear of the dust bunnies.

With the lint out of the way your hair dryer will last longer and it only takes an old toothbrush and a minute of your time. I recommend cleaning a hair dryer about once a month or whenever you notice your hair dryer vents getting blocked. It's a great way to make your dryer last longer and save money because you aren't always buying a new hair dryer. Liked how to clean a hair dryer?
