Method
- Mix 4 cups self rising flour and 2/3 cup vegetable shortening together in a bowl, getting rid of any large clumps.
- Slowly add 1 and 1/3 cup buttermilk and mix.
- When the dough is all mixed, roll it out on a floured surface.
- Roll to about 1/2 inch thick and cut out biscuits.
- Place biscuits in a greased cast iron skillet and bake biscuits in the oven at 450 degrees for 8-10 minutes.
- Remove when golden brown and brush with butter.
