Inside: Get the cleaning power of vinegar in a gel form. This homemade lemon vinegar gel works great at cleaning and smells amazing too!

I thought I had seen and used it all in cleaning. I have tried almost all the store-bought cleaners and a bunch of homemade cleaners too. However, recently I made a new homemade cleaner that I am completely in love with.

I love, love, love cleaning with vinegar. It is such a great product to use in cleaning but it does have one downside. It doesn't really stick or cling to vertical surfaces. Recently I was getting questions on using vinegar on a wall and it made me think of my bleach pen. I thought it would be cool if there was such a thing for vinegar.

Before long I was in the kitchen experimenting with some homemade vinegar gel. Not only was it a breeze to make but the stuff is absolutely amazing!! This homemade lemon vinegar gel is my new favorite cleaning product. It is going in my cleaning caddy for sure. If you want the cleaning power of vinegar in a gel form check out this homemade lemon vinegar gel.

To start you will need vinegar and some cornstarch. Add 3/4 cup vinegar and 3 tablespoons cornstarch to a small pot. Put the pot on the stove on low heat. Start stirring the cornstarch and vinegar mixture. You need to be very patient during this part. The low heat is very important and you need to stir the whole time it is on the heat.

After about 5-10 minutes the mixture will start to thicken like a gravy. As soon as it starts to thicken remove it from the heat but continue to stir for a few minutes. If the paste is too thick then you can always add in a teaspoon or two of vinegar.

Once the vinegar gel has started to cool add in a lemon essential oil. The lemon essential oil not only cuts grease and disinfects but it also smells great! I added about 10 drops of lemon essential oil to keep away the smell of the vinegar. I couldn't believe how good the homemade vinegar gel smelled.

Finally, once you mix in the lemon essential oil then you can add it to a container to store. I have used a number of different containers to store the vinegar gel. I like to store it in an airtight glass jar and store a smaller amount in a glass jar with a dropper for easy dispensing.  If I have a lot of cleaning to do I will make up a batch and put it in a squeeze bottle, however, keep in mind you will need to use it all up or move it to a different container with a squeeze bottle.

You can change the thickness by adding more vinegar, but I love how thick it is following the recipe exactly. Look at how well it clings to my shower door.
