what to buy in february

Trying to save more money? Check out the best things to buy in February to really save. It’s an easy way to save more money without much work.

best things to purchase in february

One of my favorite (and one of the easiest!) ways to save money is by stocking up on foods when the prices are at their lowest.

I can buy food for 50-60% of the regular prices. The best part about stocking up when things are on sale is that it doesn’t take a lot of my time. Just stock up each month to really save money on your grocery bill.

I was able to get my grocery bill to around $50 a week by stocking up and saving. (Note: I now spend closer to $100 a month for my family)

Although February is a short month there are still a lot of deals. February is national breakfast month and national canned food month so we will see tons of breakfast and canned goods on sale this month.

Plus, with Valentine's Day, we will see plenty of sales on chocolates & treats.

If you are trying to save money on groceries I have a few apps that I love. If you don't already have them, check them out!

  • Ibotta
  • Fetch ( use code RP6FG during sign up and you’ll get 2,000 Fetch Points)

Seasonal Produce

February is a colder month without a lot of produce deals. There are a few vegetable deals and one or two fruits. By purchasing the fruits that are on sale (and usually in season) you can save a lot on your grocery bill.

The best vegetables to buy in February are:

  • Arugula
  • Bok Choy
  • Broccoli
  • Brussels Sprouts
  • Carrots
  • Celery
  • Onions

The best fruits to buy in February are:

  • Clementines
  • Lemons
  • Oranges
  • Tangerines
  • Strawberries usually go on sale in February for Valentine's Day too.

If your family drinks a lot of smoothies stocking up on oranges and strawberries is a great idea. It's one of the best things to buy in February. You can see here how to freeze oranges for smoothies.

Foods To Buy In February

February is national breakfast foods month. This makes it an awesome time to really stock up on breakfast foods.

We will see so many deals on frozen waffles, pancakes, and breakfast sandwiches. If you use these regularly you can stock up while they are on sale. They will last for months in the freezer.

I love to stock up on frozen breakfast sandwiches for a quick breakfast when my teenager is in a hurry.

We should see lots of cereal deals in February, too. I love to stock up on cereal this time of year.

If you have a particular cereal your family loves, buy a couple of extra boxes when it goes on sale. It is such an easy way to save money.

February is also national canned foods month, so there will be plenty of fantastic sales on canned foods.

You can stock up on canned vegetables, fruits, and soups. I love having canned soup on hand for the nights I don’t really feel like cooking.

A can of soup and a grilled cheese sandwich make a perfect cold-weather dinner.

It’s also nice to have some canned fruits and vegetables so if there aren’t any good sales. Figure out what works for your family and stock up.

With Valentine’s Day in February, we will see lots of great deals on chocolate. Stock up on some sale and clearance chocolates for all year long.

I wait until after Valentine’s Day to get the best clearance deals on chocolate. I buy any chocolate that I might need for baking over the next couple of months.

Bonus Money Saving Tip!

  • Sign up for Fetch to save more on your shopping trip. If you haven't signed up yet you can just get the app and enter my referral code, RP6FG, during sign up and you’ll get 2,000 Fetch Points ($2).

Other Stuff

Valentine’s Day is February 14th as always, so we will see some awesome clearance deals toward the end of the month.

If you have kids consider buying their Valentine’s Day cards for next year. I love buying things on clearance for the following year to save money.

When my kiddo was younger I would buy his cards and some small Valentine’s Day toys on clearance for the next year.

I would only spend around $5-$10 dollars but was able to put together fun Valentine’s Day goodie bags for his whole class. It’s a great way to save!

February is a good time to buy furniture. We will see some President’s and Tax Sales on furniture and it’s definitely a good time to buy. If you have held out for that new couch or bed, February is the month to buy it.

Saving money doesn’t always have to take a lot of time. Just by stocking up on a few extras when they are at their lowest can save you $100’s. What are your favorite things to buy in February?
