How to make Homemade Microwave Popcorn, Brown Bag

My son loves microwave popcorn. He could easily go through a bag a day. At a bag a day, microwave popcorn suddenly becomes pretty pricey. I started making this homemade microwave popcorn to save some money. It not only saves us money, but it's kind of fun to make too! Kids will love helping to make this brown bag microwave popcorn. Check out how to make homemade microwave popcorn.

Not only is it very inexpensive to make, it only takes a few ingredients. Plus, you don't have all the added chemicals that are in the store-bought microwave popcorn. We love to use coconut oil in our homemade microwave popcorn, but you can easily use butter or nothing at all.

You will need a brown paper bag to microwave it. I recommend putting wax paper in the bag, too. It helps hold in the grease. If you don't want to use wax paper, you can use two bags put together instead. Lay the brown bag down.

Next, you will need a 1/3 cup popping kernels. Aldi usually has big bags of them for around $1. Add the popping kernels to the brown bag.

If you want you can add a small spoonful of coconut oil. If you prefer butter instead, I recommend about a tablespoon.

Then, roll up the end of the bag 3-4 times so it stays shut. Place it in the microwave for around 2 1/2 - 3 minutes. This will vary based on your microwave. I usually just wait until I don't hear kernels popping for about 10 seconds. Give it a minute to cool and then shake the bag to mix up all the oils. If you would like you can add salt now.

I want to eat healthier, but at the same time, well, I want popcorn haha.
Coconut oil sounds so much healthier, and (like you said) you don't have to worry about chemicals!

I hope you will share your popcorn with our Link Up - Idea box:
