Inside: Want to save more money? These nine easy purchases will save you money over time. Buy them now to save hundreds this year.

save you money

Usually when you think about things or ideas that will save you money you don’t really think about spending money. But sometimes spending some money now will save you money over time. Like for instance, I love to stock up when I see a good sale on something. Even though I spend more money up front, I end up saving money over time.

If you are wanting to save more money this year check out these easy purchases that will save you money over time. You can buy now and save later!

Amazon Fire

If you have cable and are wanting to cut the cord an Amazon Fire is a great way to do it. I love our Kindle Fire and how easy it makes to watch the tv shows we love. You can pick up an Amazon Fire for under $80 and use it to watch all of your regular shows. Although you have the upfront expense of the Amazon Fire it won’t take long to make up the money you spent when you ditch cable. Check out how to watch your favorite shows without cable.

Programmable Thermostat

Programmable thermostats are a great way to save money on heating and cooling bills. By programming it lower during the day or at night you can save as much as $150 dollars a year. In winter I can turn the temperature down at night and have the house warmed back up when I wake up in the morning. You can get them starting at $19.99 on Amazon, so they will easily pay for themselves within a month or two.

Water Bottle

We bought my son a swell as a Christmas present because he is constantly drinking water. He carries it to swim practice, school, and even on long trips. He just refills it at water fountains or faucets whenever he gets a chance. Although a sturdy water bottle isn’t always cheap it will easily save you money over time. Bottled water can be anywhere from $1-2 dollars so it only takes a few times of using a reusable water bottle to start saving you money.

Crock Pot

If you work outside the home or are very busy during the day a crock pot is a great purchase that will save you money over time. It’s easy to throw in a dinner before you leave in the morning and have a home cooked meal waiting on you when you get home. Having something already prepared will save you money instead of ordering pizza or getting carryout. I switched out my regular crockpot for one with a timer and automatic turn off and I love it. It was absolutely worth the extra money.

Meal Memberships

Much like the crockpot if you have problems keeping a dinner schedule or finding the time to cook a meal membership can help save you money. $5 meal plan is great for busy families. For $5 a month you get access to weekly meal plans and recipes. Every Friday morning you get a shopping list and recipe cards delivered to your inbox. It makes planning your weekly meals a breeze.

If cooking the meals is where you run into problems try freezer meals. You can check out My FreezeEasy. They teach you to make 10 freezer meals in under 1 hour! Plus, you get new recipes to try every month. They even offer gluten-free. Just head over here to check them out.

Microfiber Cloths

Skip using paper towels and use reusable microfiber cloths for all of your cleanings. Even though you will spend more money in the beginning over time you will save money with the microfiber cloths. Plus, if you take care of your microfiber cloths they will last for years. Microfiber cloths are a great purchase that will save you money over time.

Keurig

I am not a big coffee drinker, but my husband is and the Keurig we have saves us a lot of money. Before when we had a coffee maker he wouldn’t make coffee unless we had company. Now he is quick to make his own coffee instead of going to Starbucks. Sure the Keurig cups are more expensive than a regular cup of coffee from a coffee maker but it is still way cheaper than a coffee house cup of coffee.

Warehouse Membership

If you buy in bulk a warehouse membership at Costco, Sams Club, or BJ’s may save you money. We have a Costco membership and I love it. Gas is much cheaper at Costco than at a regular filling station so it is well worth the membership just for the gas prices. If you have a large family check to see if purchasing a warehouse membership now can save you money later.

MoviePass

If you go to the movies a lot a Moviepass is a great way to save money. With a Moviepass, you pay $9.95 a month and can go to the movies once a day with the pass. If you don’t go to the movies a lot but still want to save you can see 3 movies a month for $7.95. Where we live a ticket to the movies is around $8 so it is pretty much like a buy 1 get 2 free deal.

Sometimes spending a little bit of money upfront will help you save money in the long run. Want some other money saving tips? Check out easy ways to save when online shopping.
