Christmas & New Year's Day has come and gone, and the kiddo is finally getting back to school tomorrow. I know our Christmas break is quickly coming to an end. We have had lots of fun for the last couple of weeks so I thought I would give you a peek into our Christmas and New Year.

My son was off school for a couple of days before Christmas break. We had a great time just relaxing during the day. My mother in law flew in from Maryland. A couple of nights we went out and looked at Christmas lights. There is a store just a few minutes from our house that has an amazing display every year. It's free to ride through, so we love to do it any night we get the chance.

On Christmas Eve we drove to my parent's house. Even the dogs went with us, although I think them may have rather stayed at home. My little dog was not too happy.

Growing up Christmas Eve was one of my favorite times. We would all get dressed up and my dad would fix shrimp for dinner. We would exchange gifts and then go to church. My sister and I usually received matching pajamas and we would get our picture taken on the stairs.

We still get dressed up and go down to my parents on Christmas Eve to exchange gifts. It was so warm on Christmas Eve my son could wear shorts. This is about as dressed up as my kiddo gets. He is more of a sweatpants and t-shirt kind of kid. Note the non-matching socks he is wearing! 🙂

We opened presents, had the kids read from the bible and ate dinner. Then, before we all went home for the night we took the standard kids on the stairs picture with my son and three nieces. Still the same stairs with same wallpaper from when I was a kid.

Christmas morning we just hung out in our pajamas most of the morning and opened a few presents. My son received a selfie stick so we all had a good time taking goofy pictures.

My family and my parents all went to my sister's house for lunch on Christmas day. My son spent the afternoon working on some new computer parts he received for Christmas. We just had some cheese, meat and crackers for dinner that night.

The day after Christmas we headed out for some after Christmas clearance sales. I love stocking up on wrapping paper, tags, and other Christmas items. I try to buy perfume and cologne for the year. They usually go 50-70% off and it is so much cheaper than buying it any other time of year.  I bought a whole bunch of the ziploc bags. I really don't care if they have snowflakes on them, we will still use them all year long. They were only $.75 each.

We had rainy weather for a couple of days so we just hung around the house. Then we drove to Cincinnati to Ikea and the legendary Jungle Jim's. They have just about any kind of food, beer and wine you would ever want. They are also home of the #1 restroom in america.

It finally stopped raining right before New Years Eve. We finally made it out hiking with the dogs. We had to be careful where we hiked because most of the areas were very muddy or still under water.

My son went to my parents to celebrate New Year's Eve. They stayed up and partied until midnight. My husband and I went out for an early dinner at our favorite BBQ place. Then we headed home and spent the evening watching movies.

We had a wonderful and relaxing Christmas break. It was nice to just take a break and not do too much. I am excited about getting back to blogging and goal setting for 2016.

I hope you and your family had a wonderful break. What did you do for Christmas break? I would love to hear about your holiday too!
