I just got back from vacation a couple of days ago and am completely relaxed. Vacations aren't always relaxing, but this one was. I spent a lot of time laying by the beach and pool reading some books. In fact, we were gone 5 days and I read a book a day.
Maybe it's just me, but I don't like a heavy thinking book when I am lying around. I like to read an easy mystery or even a romance. So, I thought I would put together a list of some great beach reads. These are some of my favorite relax and hang out, easy to read books.
I loved Gone Girl so much, it's such a page turner. I usually can guess where things are going in a book, but this one constantly surprised me. Plus, it's a fun one to read and then follow-up with the movie.
If you are a fan of The Other Boleyn Girl you will love The Kingmaker's Daughter. The book follows two sisters both wanting to be queen. As with all Philippa Gregory books there is some murder and death, but her writing style somehow keeps it all light.
One Plus One is a lighthearted easy read with a little romance thrown in. It's by the author of Me Before You, but I found this book to be a much happier ending than Me Before You. I actually read this book for book club a couple of months ago and we all agreed it was our favorite this year.
This book is being called the Gone Girl of this year, and it did not disappoint. It's a real page turner, I didn't want to put the book down. If you are looking for a great distracting book The Girl On the Train is the book for you.
I can't help it, I love a good romantic suspense. It has been a few years since I had read a good romantic suspense, and I loved Hush by Karen Robards. It was a very short read, I finished it in an afternoon at the pool, but it was a great book.
Whether you are hanging out at the beach, sitting poolside, or trying to get some mommy time away from the kids these books are a great getaway. What is your favorite beach read?

I would recommend All The Light We Cannot See! It is a great book about a girl in France that is blind and a boy that is enlisted into the Hitler Youth. It is their story through World War II. I haven't finished it quite yet, but it has been a great read so far!
